This is an amazing book full of photos that capture the essence of the unique urban sprawl that is Los Angeles. The photos were vivid, the profile of the features, engaging and the book left an impression of L.A. that was as great as the range of experiences that could possibly be had in the Southland. The one thing that I noticed was not featured was the area of downtown that is home to an extremely large homeless population: Skid Row. It's one thing to do a comprehensive photo book of Los Angeles features, but if that's done it's important to show the poorer aspects of the city was well as the multiple features on the successful aspects. Part of the book's title is "City of Dreams" but I was hoping that everything about the city of dreams, including the REALITY of over 20K of its inhabitants could be represented in some way or another in its 525 pages. Other than that it makes for a good read on a sunny afternoon, especially in L.A.
